Aidon delivers 30,000 meters to Satapirkan Sähkö
Satapirkan Sähkö Oy’s project for remote reading of 70,000 metering points has been set in motion. At present, the partner companies are gathering practical experiences of meters installed during the first stage. Some of the installed meters utilise the new MeshNet radio technology for data transfer.
One of the project partners, Leppäkosken Sähkö, will replace all of its approximately 26,500 meters over the next five years. According to Network Director Jukka Leikkanen, new meter points have been installed since the autumn, but the actual mass installation process will not be launched until next year, when the new customer information system is introduced.
– We decided to use only Aidon’s meters due to their straightforward data transfer technology. Besides the modular meter, communication between the remote reading system and meter points requires no other equipment, Leikkanen states.
Vatajankosken Sähkö, another Satapirkka partner company, has already completed the installation of 300 Aidon meters and pilot testing is underway. The actual installation process will commence in the autumn, during which 14,000 of the total 17,000 meter points will be equipped with Aidon meters.
– The reading system communicates with the master meters over a GPRS connection. Metering data is not transmitted over the power network, but data is collected from the meter points using a MeshNet radio connection in villa areas, and using RS cables in multi-metering installations, states Juha Lindholm, Deputy Managing Director of the Energy Business area.
Aidon’s metering equipment is interoperable with Landis+Gyr’s AMM system, used by Satapirkan Sähkö to provide its partner companies with the remote reading service.
