CEO Review: Advanced AMI benefits utility’s business as a whole

European Utility Week 2014, Amsterdam.

This year has again proven the high customer value of Aidon’s smart grid solutions. Our leading position among AMI suppliers has strengthened in the Nordics, where there are 1.2 million Aidon Energy Service Devices in operation today. The first contracts of Aidon in Norway include deliveries to nearly 300,000 metering points.

Utilities today have extremely high demands for the productivity of AMI. This suits perfectly Aidon’s philosophy of understanding the core of our customers’ business and ensuring lifetime value for the investment. The smart grid features are seen more important than ever, and the pay-back value of each feature is carefully calculated. Transformation to smart metering is now seen as an investment to effectiveness and it creates a unique possibility to enable new services and business concepts in the future.

Aidon is well equipped to meet this challenge with our technology and experience. We see ourselves not only as a smart grid solutions provider, but also as a knowledge centre. Our senior level experts always have time for a dialogue with utilities about their business challenges and technology, for example. This has been the driving idea for us since the company’s beginning ten years ago – to shift the focus from devices and features to business benefits and creating value for the customer’s investment.

Another driving idea for Aidon – and we were the first ones in the metering industry with this – is openness and platform thinking in our offering. We can now see that an open platform supporting modularity and application innovation is the winning concept. For us it means the possibility to respond fast to different customer needs and to create the optimal solution for each case. For our customers it enables adaptability for the whole lifetime of the AMI solution. Open platform also provides effectiveness and profits, which utilities seek while preparing for their smart grid future.
