In search of accurate metering data and leaner processes
Helen Electricity Network’s key driver for renewing the metering system was to obtain consumption information in a more reliable and cost-efficient manner. They also needed a smart way to handle the cut-offs and reconnections of over 4000 temporary subscriptions a month. With a smart metering solution they aimed to improve customer service and simplify processed including maintenance of meters.
Helen chose Aidon for its AMM technology provider. About 150 000 metering points were equipped with Aidon Energy Service Devices. The solution uses three communication technologies: MeshNET short-range radio, RS485 wired and GPRS/3G network. Meters have a remote connection feature together with circuit breakers enabling safe remote management of electricity supply.
In addition Aidon’s Control Room service is daily used for efficient maintenance and monitoring of installed meter base.
End-result: Improved customer service
The advanced metering system enables accurate billing and remote switch-off/on of electricity. It also delivers instant information about the network’s status and potential problems. All this enables faster response times and enhanced customer service.
