Lahti Energia purchases 72,000 AMR meters from Aidon

Over the next two years, Aidon Oy will deliver 72,000 AMR meters to LE-Sähköverkko Oy, a subsidiary of Lahti Energia Oy. TeliaSonera Finland is the turnkey supplier of the accompanying remote reading system.

Aidon’s intelligent meter units consist of electricity energy meters equipped with a data communications route, a system module and a remote connection device.

– These new generation meters enable features such as low voltage network management. This will be used in certain sections of the network. Moreover, additional services can be easily introduced as required. We also value having a local supplier and the availability of post-installation support, says Eero Seesvaara, Managing Director of LE-Sähköverkko Oy.

The reading system and the meters communicate through a two-way GSM/GPRS connection, which automatically distributes all software updates and tariff changes.

Data transfer between meters is achieved either using an RS485 bus cable or a MeshNet radio connection. These enable a reliable data transfer solution with low lifecycle costs.

– In our city environment, we have a range of meters and data transfer connections: these must communicate smoothly. Aidon’s meters are ideal in this respect and easy to connect to the reading system, explains Veli-Pekka Tietäväinen, Senior Manager at TeliaSonera Finland.
